Meet The Governors

Meet The Governors

Peg Hulse  |  Business & Community Governor

  • Chair of Full Governing Body
  • Attends all Committee meetings where possible
  • Linked to SEND

Peg has been a governor at PRS for four years and Chair since summer 2015. A former Head, she loves her involvement with the school and, thanks to her link with the Performing Arts Department, attends school performances and events as often as possible. Peg works part-time as a Development Coach for middle leaders in challenging London schools and delivers training in schools up and down the country. An avid arts fan, Peg sees as much live theatre, music, opera and dance as she can, walks, gardens and still reads voraciously.

KNicolle

Kate Nicolle  |  Parent Governor

  • Vice Chair of Pupil Welfare Committee
  • Linked to PE Department & Staff

Kate is the Learning & Training Manager for the charity “One Plus One”, whose work focuses on strengthening family relationships, using research to improve the outcomes for the country’s children. She has a keen interest in not only the welfare of the school’s students but also of the staff. Kate’s connection to the PE Department comes from having sports-mad sons at PRS and a sporty husband at home!

Barry Tomkins  | Business & Community Governor

  • Chair of Curriculum Committee
  • Member of Pay & Personnel Committee
  • Linked to Science Department

Barry was appointed as a Community Governor at PRS in 2010. He worked for HMI for 20 years and is now retired. Barry keeps busy, however, with his six grandchildren and his many hobbies, which include supporting the Sixth Form Interactors at PRS, walking, cycling, camping, painting, sailing, and doing charity work through the Rotary Club (where he has been a member for over 30 years). Barry is also a member of the University of the Third Age in Princes Risborough.

Jonny Smith  |  Staff Governor

  • Member of Pupil Welfare & Curriculum Committees

Jonny has worked at PRS for 7 years and has been a governor since September 2016. He started in 2010 delivering literacy intervention in the learning support department, swiftly became literacy co-ordinator for the school and is now a teacher of English across all key stages. Jonny has been immersed in PRS life; being part of ski trips, football tours and coaching the current year 11 school football team. When not working, Jonny enjoys playing and watching football, going to music gigs and the theatre.

Peter Rowe  |  Staff Governor

  • Leadership Member of Finance/Premises, Pay & Personnel Committees

Pete is, of course, Head of the school, but he is also a full member of the Governing Body. He attends nearly all meetings and reports regularly on all aspects of the school. He gives the rest of the Governors a great deal of his time and strives to help them have as full a picture of the school as possible. Pete has been at Princes Risborough School for nine years and has seen many changes in that time. A keen sportsman, he now plays county-level badminton. He attends a weekly philosophy class - his latest endeavour to be a lifelong learner. He is also Alfie’s owner.

Andrew Rysdale  |  Business & Community Governor

  • Vice Chair of Finance/Premises Committee
  • Member of Pay & Personnel Committee
  • Linked to DT/Technology Department

Andrew is a Chartered Building Surveyor and works for a local housing association where he is the Head of Asset Management. He has spent 20 years in the construction industry in local authority, private practice and now social housing. In his spare time Andrew enjoys playing golf, having given up on more active sports after completing the London and New York Marathons (for Children with Cancer) a few years ago. He is also attempting to encourage his three children (one of whom is at PRS) to join him in supporting Wycombe Wanderers, but with varying degrees of success!

Samantha Owen  |  Business & Community Governor

  • Clerk to Curriculum, Pay & Personnel & Pupil Welfare Committees
  • Member of Finance/Premises Committee
  • Linked to Safeguarding

Sam joined as a Governor in 2015, and has a son in Year 10 at PRS. Sam works at a local secondary school and, in her spare time, enjoys walking her two dogs, water colour painting and spending time with her family.

Rachel Gray  |  Parent Governor

  • Member of Curriculum & Pupil Welfare Committee
  • Linked to Humanities

Rachel was appointed in June 2012, having had ten years’ experience of being a Governor in two other schools. She works in education, supporting schools to use their management information systems. Rachel’s life is very busy, having three sons and volunteering for Hearing Dogs as a “Bed & Breakfast Socialiser”. In her spare time she enjoys walking and reading!

Caroline Russell  |  Business & Community Governor

  • Chair of Pupil Welfare Committee
  • Linked to RE/Citizenship/PSHE

Caroline became a Governor at Princes Risborough school in December 2015, having previously been a Governor for six years at another school.  In her working life she is a member of the Senior Leadership Team at a local school in Buckinghamshire.  In her spare time Caroline loves to cook, go to the gym and in winter enjoys her skiing holidays immensely.

Chris Cornish  |  Business & Community Governor

  • Member of Finance/Premises and Pupil Welfare Committees

Chris lives locally in Princes Risborough and works at Royal Air Force Halton where he is responsible for the governance and assurance of RAF Sport.   He served in the RAF for 37 years and has an extensive professional portfolio encompassing project, operational and business management, training, budgeting, planning and administration.  He has 3 children at University and in his spare time he enjoys sailing, walking, keeping fit and gardening.
