Princes Risborough School

Princes Risborough School

Learning Resource Centre

Opening hours Monday – Friday 09.00-15.00

LRC Supervisor: Mrs Gough

The LRC is situated on the first floor of the main school block, above the canteen.

Fiction books are catalogued by author, alphabetically.  Non-fiction books are classified using the standard Dewey system.

There are daily newspapers, monthly magazines and journals and there is study space for 70+ students. There are 15 computers for general school use during break, lunch and private study periods. All computers have internet access for further research.  The LRC also houses a well stocked stationery shop.
Library activities through the year include topical displays, competitions, quizzes, Friday Fun lunch, World Book Day activities, and author talks.

We have an extensive careers section all the University and College current prospectuses are available for the students to look through.

We are very happy to accept tokens from collecting schemes. This year we are participating in Nestle ‘Box Top for Books’ .

The scheme allow us to swap the collected tokens for free books!  It takes as little as 10 tokens to get one book, so the more tokens we collect the more books we can receive for our library.   Tokens can be deposited in our special collection box in the LRC or given to your child’s tutor.

The LRC is in constant use and is a place to come to for study, homework, research, advice or just to read!

Reading Lists

With so many parents now having internet access, we've decided to make our school reading lists available online. We hope this will prove very convenient for parents and save a lot of time that might be spent trawling shops for the books.

The service is provided free by a website called Lovereading4schools.co.uk and all the books are available to buy at a 25% discount. Uniquely, schools and parents can download a free opening extract of each book to find out which their children will most enjoy before buying. And for every £100 spent by parents of our school we are given a £5 book voucher to purchase more books for our school library, benefiting your child even further.

Click below / go to the web address below to go to our online reading lists.

You will be asked to register as a parent and create your own account. It's free, and very important as it enables us to be sent our free book vouchers for the school library. All you need is an email address and a password that you can remember.

Once you have registered you will need to LOGIN each time you visit the school reading lists.

After registration you will be sent to the schools book page and there just click on any of the book lists to see the books in those lists.

Finally, please remember to bookmark our school's page to make it easier for you next time you visit the site.

The School Shop is located within the LRC

This is only a small selection of the items that are available from the school shop in the LRC.
