Duke of Edinburgh's Award
The Duke of Edinburgh’s award programme offers a unique opportunity for personal growth and development tailored to the individual. There are four main sections to complete of the DofE programme; Volunteering, Physical, Skills, and Expedition. At Gold, students will also complete a Residential section. For the expedition section, we team up with the School of Outdoors, an approved activity provider for DofE expeditions and training, to provide students with an exceptional outdoor experience from training through to assessment.
At Princes Risborough School, we offer all three progressive levels of awards: Bronze in Year 9, Silver in Year 10, and Gold in Year 12. You do not need to have completed a previous award to qualify for a level when the time comes.
Any student can participate in the DofE programme. Achieving an award isn’t a competition or about being first. It’s about setting personal challenges and pushing personal boundaries. Through the DofE programme, students have fun, make friends, improve their self-esteem, and build confidence. They gain essential skills and attributes for work and life, such as resilience, problem-solving, teamwork, communication, and drive, which all enhance CVs, and university and job applications.
Launch events occur at the beginning of each academic year and are communicated via email and in assemblies.
